Free Turkey at Lucky's

November 12th, 2008 at 07:53 pm

Yesterday I stocked up on staples and sale items at Lucky's (formerly Albertson's) and spent $99.42. It was reduced to $90.42 after I used $9 of "Lucky's Bucks." The best part is that I got a FREE 14.5 lb. turkey because I spent $99. It was a surprise.

The clerk asked me if I wanted a "turkey breast or a whole turkey." I said, "Oh, that's OK, I don't need anything else." He looked at me as if I had two heads. "Madam, there are no strings attached... you are entitled to a free turkey because you spent $99!" I asked for a whole turkey and he went and brought me back one that was 14.5 pounds @ $1.19 per pound.

We are going to have Thanksgiving with my DS and BIL, and they always cook a HUGE turkey (Birdzilla), so I may end up donating this turkey to the food bank, but it was great to get it free.

I had a flashback to the 1970s when I saw "Lucky's". There were "Lucky" foodstores in Washington state, judging from the US commercials we saw just ovre the border. "Lucky" you indeed!

I'm with PG. I thought, "Lucky's still exists???" & you are in my state I think. I guess so!

Yes, Lucky's still exists here in Santa Clara County, CA... but, the chain has had an interesting history, going from Lucky's to Albertson's and now back to Lucky's.

Hey, I thought you lived near the coast or something. Those are my old stomping grounds!

I guess I haven't shopped there in a while though. Or likely we may have some up here in Sacramento too. We dumped Albertson's once we got Bel Air down the street. (Albertson's was a little out of the way - and Bel Air is superb).

I wonder if the Albertson's by my parent's house has turned back to Lucky's. I just can't keep up with it all. Wink
